DRS 2006 - Audio related Problems
FAQ 1: Choppy Audio Output or Delayed Audio Playback - Codec Conflicts I successfully installed DRS 2006 a week ago and everything worked out well. Now every time two songs fade into each other there are glitches or some sort of bubbling. What went wrong? That's a common but well known problem. If you install another mp3 player then winamp or the windows media player, a different mp3 codec will be installed as well. This is also done by some DVD players. But not all mp3 codecs are capable of playing two or more mp3 files at the same time. This is indeed a basic need for the use of DRS 2006. By the way, this can also cause delays when launching a playout. The problem can simply be solved by getting rid of the new codec. Normally this can be done by deinstalling the new software. If this does not help then launch the Windows Media Player and play a mp3 file. If Windows can't find a codec, it will download the normal version automatically from the net. Here is a list of known software which causes problems with DRS 2006: - Nero Burning 6!! (Playback Delay because of NeAudio.ax) - XingTech's MP3 Player (Choppy Audio) (included in Audio Catalyst, make a custom installation without the Player) - XingTech's DVD Player - WinDVD - Player which comes as part of the SiS Multimedia (Annoying Clicks) All other softwares should not cause any problems. Nero 6 Solution FAQ 2: Inserting Files In Audio Manager I have a problem with the Audio Manager. It just doesn't let me read in some mp3s. Others are OK. Can you help me? Yes, Marco. This happens if you have mp3s that are write-disabled. If you copy for example mp3-files from a CD to your hard disk then they are write-disabled. The solution is very simple. Tag the whole directory in which your audio files are and change its attribute with the windows explorer. FAQ 3: Choppy Audio Output - Broadcast Processor Plugin (2.11 & below) I have an audio problem. I am running 2000 Pro Windows and the audio is very choppy. It sounds as if everything is warbling? Can you help please. The machine is a PIII pentium 700mhz with 128mb of memory and no other applications are running in the background as far as I can see? You have 2 ways to solve this: 1. If you want to use the Broadcast Processor Plugin (recommended) Go to any module and press on the "Plugins Setup" button, then "Broadcast Processor Plugin". Now the plugin itself pops up. Right-click on the plugin and you will see a menu. Here you choose "set latency". Now increase the values "Num Buffers" and "Buffer Size". After doing so shut down all DRS 2006 modules and restart the On Air Studio. Increase the values till it does not garble anymore during the fades. You must find a optimum setting here which fits exactly to your PC, so if it works fine, decrease these values again till you reach the optimum. 2. If you do not want to use the Broadcast Processor Plugin Simply disable the plugin in the Launcher. There is a button "DRS 2006 Plugins Setup". Here uncheck all modules in the Broadcast Processor section. |
