DRS 2006 - Error Messages
FAQ 1: Error Loading DRS 2006 After Unzipping DRS 2006 fails to install on the first and every attempt after unzipping. Each time I receive the error message: 16 bit Windows Subsystem C:\progra~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL An installable Virtual Device Driver failed initialization. Chose 'Close' to terminate this application. Please disable your Antivirus. The Symantec message is from your antivirus product. In this case "Systemworks suite of products". If after disabling and reinstalling DRS 2006 the product still fails to install, then your Antivirus/Systemworks product has failed and will need uninstalling and reinstalling. You can find additonal assistance from Symantec here and here. FAQ 2: Error Loading DRS 2006 After Unzipping #2 DRS 2006 fails to install or function correctly after unzipping. I do not receive an error message: In certain circumstances under the Windows XP Platform. XP's own Extraction Utility "Compressed Folders" has failed to extract your DRS 2006 Software correctly. We suggest you try a known unzipping program such as Winzip or Winrar. FAQ 3: "Exception EOleSysError..." When I activate "Database Connector and Setup" - everything works fine. BUT - the rest of the package: Audio Manager, Playlist Editor and On Air Studio gives me the same fault report: Application Error "Exception EOleSysError in module ........exe at........." Every action possible is "OK" - and I can't do anything about it. Do you think that is the "media player" problem that you mention on your homepage...or? Yes Per, that's right. This exception appears when the DRS cannot communicate with the Windows Media Player for any reason. Be sure that you have installed the Media Player 6.1 or higher. You can find the links to them on our download page. The Database Connector doesn't have to communicate with the Media Player that's why it works properly. FAQ 4: "Canvas does not...." Error Sometimes when I open a DRS 2006 module I get an error message "Canvas does not allow drawing". What causes this? This error is caused by low GDI (Graphic Device Interface) resources. It doesn't matter if your PC has 256M of memory if you're using Windows 95/98/Me(TM). With Windows 95/98/Me(TM) you will still have the same measly User and GDI heaps as users with 32M. You will always have these problems if you have many programs open. Windows 2000(TM) and Windows XP(TM) do not have these problems anymore. In version 1.700 and higher we blocked opening multiple DRS 2006 modules if you are using Windows 95/98/Me(TM) to prevent these errors. We only let you open one module together with the Virtual Cart Machine and On Air Analyzer. So if you have 3 modules running and maybe other Windows programs, you might get these problems. There are two ways to solve this: 1. You try not to open too many DRS 2006 modules at the same time or you shut down other programs running to free up resources while using DRS 2006. 2. If you really need to run many programs and DRS 2006 modules at the same time, we recommend to use Windows 2000(TM) or Windows XP(TM). These operating systems have a much better memory handling. FAQ 5: "GetFilterGraph failed" When Playing I have a problem. After I have installed Cool Edit Pro, the DRS 2006 Broadcast Processor does not work anymore. In every DRS 2006 module I get the errors "GetFilterGraph failed" and then a access violation in the DRSAudioControl.ocx. I found out that it is the plugin, because when I disable the plugins in the Launcher the DRS 2006 works fine. I also tried to reinstall the OS and after installing Cool Edit the same thing happens again. Here is what we found out till now: On Windows 95/98/Me: Simply reinstall the Windows Media Player 6.4. This solves the problem. And here is the solution for Windows 2000: The CoolEdit Pro 1.0 and 1.1 CDs force an installation of a very old (pre DirectX 6) version of ActiveMovie, which is incompatible with the DRS 2006 plugin. The damage can't be undone by simply copying files, because the ActiveMovie installer also makes major changes to the Windows registry. THIS FILE KICKS BACK THE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER INTO SHAPE: mplayer.zip Extract all 3 files into your system32 of the directory of Windows, then double-click on "setup.bat". FAQ 6: "Division by zero" In Audio Manager Sometimes when adding or amending new items in Audio Manager an error box appears with that message. How can I solve it? The ID TAG information for the file has been corrupted, possibly by a 3rd Party program. Sometimes little squares are generated which replace the normal blank spaces between words. Simply deleting the TAG and regenerating it clean should correct this issue. We advise to also check that your files have not been encoded using the VBR (Variable Bitrate) format. FAQ 7: "Operation Not Applicable" In Audio Manager When inserting new items in Audio Manager a cascading (Deck of cards) error box appears multiple times. In some cases the directory and filename is too long. For example the directory, folder and filename may be longer than 90 characters. This can happen if you use subfolders. We recommend that you change the structure of your audio locations and/or shorten the filename. FAQ 8: "Floating Point" Error I get a Floating Point error unexpectedly. The "Floating Point" error occurs when one of the INI files gets corrupted. To fix this, go to the On Air Radio Setup and adjust the values for, Manual Fade Out, Drop Down and Drop Down Percentage. Save and Exit and re-start the module. FAQ 9: "Invalid Floating Point" Error I get an Invalid Floating Point error on some audio files under 4 seconds. This "Invalid Floating Point" error occurs when one or more of your audio files is under the minimum playable by Windows Media Player. To fix this, Please open the offending file in a good audio editor and add 12 seconds of silence to the end of the track. Now reinsert it into Audio Manager, and adjust cue out information. The added silence will not impair the performance of DRS 2006. FAQ 10: "Record Already Locked By This Session" In Audio Manager When I try to insert items into Audio Manager I get this error. Close the active module. Then open the Database Utility. From here you should choose HRDat.dbf, and then go to Tools>Reindex. For version 3.0/Enterprise choose to reindex DRSMain.dbf. |
