FAQ: DRS 2006 - General Issues

FAQ 1: How do I use a microphone with DRS 2006?
DRS 2006 is based on professional radio automation systems which are used in conventional radio stations. It was originally seen as a CD replacement which is simply pluged to a hardware mixer before the complete signal is transmitted on the air. Later on we added the DRS 2006 Internet Broadcaster and DRS 2006 Broadcast Processor because many of our clients were also using it for their internet radio station and wanted to stream the signal directly from the same computer.

To plug the hardware mixer to the computer so it's connected devices can be used with the DRS 2006 Internet Broadcaster, you simply need to plug in the output of the mixer to the line in of your sound card. You might also need to adjust the recording options in the Windows Mixer (tray icon). The VU Meter of the Internet Broadcaster should then be moving if you switch on any device which goes over your hardware mixer or if you talk into your microphone.

Of course you can also plugin your microphone directly to the microphone input of your sound card, but we do not really recommend this because you don't really have good control over your external devices. If you want to be a professional radio station, you should consider to buy a hardware mixer. Simple mixers are under 50$ and can be bought anywhere on the net.

2. Click Unblock.
3. Double-click the .chm file to open the file.

FAQ 3: I am having problems to install the software

When Installing your software I get Missing file : INSTMSIA.EXE
The version of Microsoft's Installer (MSI) agent on your PC is out of date. Please use one of the links below to download and install the MSI version that is appropriate for your PC. You should have no problem installing any of oor products after installing the new MSI.

To download the Windows Installer file from the Web, visit one of the following Microsoft Web sites:

Instmsia.exe for Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/WindowsInstaller/Install/2.0/W9XMe/EN-US/InstMsiA.exe

-or-

Instmsiw.exe for Windows NT or Windows 2000:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/WindowsInstaller/Install/2.0/NT45/EN-US/InstMsiW.exe

Windows XP contains Windows Installer 2.0 and therefore can't be installed or upgraded by this redistributable.

FAQ 4: My Registration Key Is Not Being Accepted.

I have tried entering my Registration Key into the DRS 2006 Launcher, but the key appears not to activate the lights.
You have 2 ways to solve this:

1. Make sure you haven't copied any blank spaces at the end of the key while copying and pasting the information from your confirmation email. To be sure, please type the key in manually.

2. In version 3.0 Please make sure you have accessed the Administration Kit and checked all modules that you want the administrator to access (usually all), and provided a password that you must use to log in. Once you login with your password you should see all green lights lit relevant to your package.

FAQ 5: Version 3.0 Gives Me A Database Error Message.

I get this message when trying to open a module "The connection to the DRS 2006 Database is not valid. Please use the DRS 2006 Administration Kit to connect to the database." and "Database Error - Files are not there."
Please open your DRS 2006 Version 2.11 Database Connector
and make sure that you have correctly pointed the Connector to C:\DRS2006\DIGITALDATA. Please check by running a Database Integrity Check. If you still receive such errors, please use the DRS 2006 Converter to Convert the DRS 2006 Database from version 2.11 to Verison 3.0.
