FAQ:
What is the DRS 2006 Radio Streamer?
The
DRS 2006 Radio Streamer is the one-stop solution for internet broadcasters,
who want to reach the world of music lovers with their own online radio
station.
We have high speed streaming servers in Europe and the USA, catering
for almost everyone, and our prices cannot be beaten, this does not
mean we cut down on quality of service, far from it, our levels of expertise
and customer service are just one of the high points of the DRS 2006
Radio Streamer. If you ever have a problem or just need advice, our support staff are never
far away.
Streaming is the transmission of audio or video from your computer via
the internet to a provider such as the DRS
2006 Radio Streamer, which in turn broadcasts your material to the
internet allowing more listeners to tune in. If this was tried this
at home or office, maybe 2 or 3 listeners would be able to listen at
one time, due to lack of bandwidth. But with a high powered server such
as those DRS 2006 control, your listeners are virtually numberless.
This is why DRS 2006 Radio Streamer is the ideal solution. We take the
load from your computer, allowing you the freedom to concentrate on
broadcasting.
FAQ:
Why can't I simply rent a cheap dedicated server?
People
ask us this question every day! When streaming to the web you
do not need much server power. What you really need is dedicated bandwidth
which is very expensive (not unmetered). When a provider offers you
a dedicated server you will basically be connected in a server farm
to a small traffic line together with many other servers. The server
is dedicated, but the bandwidth is shared. They usually sell the server
traffic as unmetered. So you are for example sharing a 100 Mbit line
with several servers although your dedicated server has a 100 Mbit or
even 1000 Mbit network card installed. If you are using this dedicated
server as a web server, then you will hardly recognize if the connection
is a little slower (oversold). However when streaming on shared traffic
lines, you will have buffering all the time. The streams will simply
rip off because other servers in the shared line also need the bandwidth.
You may be lucky a certain amount of time because your provider has
not put many servers in your line yet, but you can bet this will happen
sooner or later. If it does not, you can bet the provider will cancel
your contract because with a full used 1000 Mbit line you will cost
them a lot of money every month.
There
are many "companies" out there trying to start a streaming
service with these cheap dedicated servers. They usually have very
low pricing. Of course they are not able to do this business for long
because of the dedicated bandwidth which is needed. So please take
a closer look before you sign up with any stream provider! Ask for
dedicated bandwidth!
At the DRS 2006 Radio Streamer we have dedicated lines with huge bandwidth which
is not oversold. So because we do not have this bottle neck there is no buffering
and absolutely stable streaming since years. Your listeners will appreciate it!
